Supporting Personal Development
Supporting personal and professional development is demonstrated through ongoing participation in continuing education and skill-building activities that strengthen public health nursing practice. This includes engagement in trainings such as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Trainer certification and infectious disease updates, as well as continued development of competencies in communication, program planning, and leadership. I also maintain current knowledge of evidence-based guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to ensure practice remains aligned with national and state standards. These efforts reflect a commitment to lifelong learning and high-quality, population-centered care.
Supervision and Workforce Development
In my current role, I supervise the DFC Grant program Dedham Organization for Substance Awareness (DOSA) staff and Beth Israel Deaconess – Needham Community Grant program, CareCab, providing coaching, performance guidance, and operational support to ensure effective service delivery. I have supported staff development through ongoing communication, problem-solving, and reinforcement of accountability and program expectations.
Program Leadership
I have taken a leadership role in coordinating and implementing community-based programs, including the CareCab transportation program, which required collaboration with community partners, adaptation of program workflows, and evaluation of service delivery to improve access to care.
I further demonstrated leadership through co-leading the Opioid Abatement Funds Task Force, where I facilitated discussions, contributed to stakeholder engagement, and supported decision-making related to funding priorities and community-based interventions.
Presentations and Communication
I have delivered multiple public health trainings and presentations, including AED and naloxone education for town employees and seasonal information sessions for recreational program directors, adapting communication strategies to meet the needs of diverse audiences.
I have also contributed written public health communication through Board of Health News Corner and the town's social media platforms, translating complex health information into accessible messaging for the community.
Mentorship
In addition to formal leadership roles, I have provided informal mentorship and advising to a nursing student completing a community health course, offering guidance on public health nursing practice and application of academic concepts in real-world settings.
Academic and Ongoing Development
My professional development includes ongoing graduate-level education in public health nursing, as well as continuous learning through real-world program implementation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and application of evidence-based practice.
Through these combined experiences, I have demonstrated progression from direct clinical care to advanced public health nursing practice that includes leadership, program development, workforce development, and systems-level engagement. These experiences have strengthened my leadership, communication, and program planning skills and position me to continue advancing into a director-level public health nursing role focused on population health strategy, program innovation, and community impact.
